Community Spotlight: Thai New Year is Hot in Hollywood
by Paula Angeles, PMX Staff

On Saturday, April 5, 2009, the Thaitown section of Los Angeles near Hollywood hosted the 6th Annual Thai New Year Songkran Festival. This free to attend festival spanned several blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and featured a myriad of events from Thai Kickboxing demonstrations to a traditional costume fashion show.

One of the main attractions of this festival was the food. There were rows and rows of tents selling traditional Thai food such as Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, and Chicken Satay. Singha, the beer of Thailand, also had a Singha Pavilion (Sorry! 21+ only!) where you can drink a pitcher of lager through their cool pitcher. Let's not forget the Curry Festival! This searing part of the festival tested the tastebuds of many people with varying degrees of delicious heat. Pain never tasted so good! For more information on the New Year Festival, bookmark http://www.ThaiNewYear.com for the 2010 event.

Event Report: Let the Good Times Roll at Otaku Bowl
by Paula Angeles, PMX Staff

On Saturday, March 21, 2009, we went and found anime fans in the most unlikely of places: the bowling alley! People had a blast on the lanes of the Classic Bowling Center in Daly City, CA. In between hurling bowling balls of varying weights, there were giveaways and raffles of an anime nature. Everyone who attended left with a prize. The next Otaku Bowl will be in May so bookmark this page for more information: http://otakubowl.webs.com. Preregistration is only $10!
