Kiryu
Kiryu at PMX With a distinctive style and awareness as a vocalist, Kiryu creates music that sets him apart from other musicians. As singer/songwriter, his perseverance in the Japanese music industry has led to an eventful and successful career; with his first band and while still in high school, Kiryu performed at Yokohama Stadium in front of 25,000 people. Self-described as “sexy” music, his considerable experience and influence involves many types of music and the result can be heard in his music.

Currently based out of New Mexico, Kiryu hopes to make his mark on America using his musical style and sense of fashion. Recently releasing his first solo album, Hydra, he has already impressed music fans all over with his passion for music and his desire to share it with the world.

It is only a matter of time before his fresh sound and charismatic smile take the US by storm.

Kiryu appears at PMX courtesy of Askew Magazine, the premiere entertainment publication for the Japanese rock scene in America. Askew is dedicated to providing the best Japanese rock and entertainment content in English.

Nobu Albatross
Hydraphonic at PMX In 1985, Nobu Albatross (aka Nobuhito Kawamura) was born in a city called Fukuoka, Japan. His story: I started playing guitar when I was 15. I remember when I found my older brother's electric guitar in his closet, which he never used. In the beginning, I was into hard rock and metal and I still love it… But then I found that 70's music has a passion in a different way and I liked it: the politics, the background, the economy...everything. That's why I am a hippie, I guess (JK). I started listening to “blues influenced music” and my life changed so much. I realized "how good your skill is doesn’t always make people 'CRY."

I came to the US in 2006 and formed the band Ghost Towne. We performed at Crash Mansion with Great White once but still, I want to go further... I began studying classical guitar in December of 2008 because I love classical music; I felt, "why can’t classical guitarists and rock guitarists get along? It's same MUSIC as long as it sounds...” Someday I hope that all types of musicians will understand each other.....

Poel
Poel at PMX Poel is songwriter/guitar player trying to weld world music with rock 'n' roll and pop. Born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in the US, Poel’s creations offer an innovative mix of the complexities of Japanese musical aesthetics with the power of Western practices. With a refreshing view of music’s power to touch our hearts and minds, Poel’s philosophy represents a hopeful future for the next phase of rock. From England’s Led Zeppelin to Japan’s L'Arc~en~Ciel, J-Pop/J-rock, pop, hard rock, and world music come together in a way everyone can appreciate.

Poel is also the guitar player and arranger for Glenn Cee's Hollow Needle Project, the leader of Lounge Version Despair, and performs as singer/guitar player fronting his own band. He previously played guitar for L2D and Artbeat, along with short stints with Mike Gunn's Beings of Light, Lance Sanders pre-IF days, and Dead End Detour. Other acts he has played guitar or bass with onstage include Kaoru Enjoji, RYOVIBES, VAEIDOS, PTA, and is also willing to share the stage with anyone who has true passion.
