Anime Dodgeball

It's nerdy! It's flirty! And, yes, it's even a little dirty! This band of merry mariners brings you all the lovable nerd music you've come to enjoy, except this time with a twist. Come belt out all your favorite video game anthems and anime themes, but be prepared for naughty sailor shanties in between.

It's a show where your favorite sailor boys let loose a little bit and sing the songs that deep down, you know you always wanted to singalong to. So jump on board and be prepared to make some music.
Con Going 201: Let's Talk Community

This panel will be focused on discussion of the Cosplay Community as a whole and the many recent trends that have taken place within it. Also to be discussed are the many things that have impacted the cosplay community such as the Cosplay Is Not Consent Movement, GoFundMe and Kickstarter campaigns for cosplayers, and more.
The Dark Side of Magical Girls
Friday, 11/7, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Think all there is to a magical girl series is sparkles and sweets? Well, think again! Come take a look at the darker themes present in the genre, and talk about how they are just as necessary as the lighter ones.
The Dub Show
Saturday, 11/8, 8:30 - 10:00 p.m.
Location: La Jolla A (LP3)
Presenters: Pierce Brown, Chet Brown, Hoang Pham, and Brian Praamsma


The Dub Show is a game played with the audience. 6 teams of 3 will take the stage and provide their own dub for an anime clip. Each clip has all audio removed and has colored bars on screen to show who is supposed to be talking. Each team also gets a crazy theme or situation to act out. The key is to be as funny and entertaining as possible, because at the end, the audience themselves will pick the winner!

Win or lose, compete or don't compete, there will be tons of laughter and it'll be a night to remember. Put your improv comedy skills to the test, come to The Dub Show!
Fanfiction Writers Workshop
Friday, 11/7, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Location: Los Angeles C (Workshop 2)

This panel will be a writer's workshop for beginning fanfic writers. It will cover characterization for main, secondary, and antagonist characters, as well as writing styles, plots, dealing with writer's block, and fanfic terminology. Free writing guides will be distributed courtesy of you-fic.net.
Get to Know Your Creepers/Trolls 101 Panel
Saturday, 11/8, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Many cosplayers in this day and age have been victimized, stalked or harassed (either verbally or physically in person or on the Internet) by all types of fans. We want to help spread the word as to how you can avoid being a victim of these kinds of individuals. We will give indicators as to how to spot/recognize these individuals and advice as to what to do when you find yourself in a this type of situation. Hear it from 3 different perspectives: a cosplayer, a photographer and a regular fan. We want to share our experiences with you so you never have to experience them yourself!
Idology 101: An Introduction to the World of Japanese Idols
Saturday, 11/8, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

An in-depth look at the world of Japanese idols and their impact on the popular media and music scene in Japan. We will travel back to the "Idol Golden Era", including artists such as Seiko Matsuda, Minako Honda, and Chisato Moritaka, and continue all the way to the current "Idol Warring States Period", where idols/groups such as AKB48, Morning Musume, and Babymetal all fight for attention and relevance in the ever-growing, cross-media field of idols. The presentation will be full of information, pictures, and video, and will be hosted by many self-proclaimed experts in all aspects of idols and their history.
Infotakus K-pop/J-pop Dance Fitness Party!
Sunday, 11/9, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Location: Plaza Ballroom B&C [Lower Lobby] (PMX Playroom)

This is Infotakus' Dance Fitness event and the music used for the workout will be K-pop/J-pop! Want to get into exercising, but you find it too boring? Let Jen-chan from Infotakus show you that you can exercise and have fun at the same time. Please wear comfortable workout clothes! Also remember to bring a facial towel and a big bottle of water because you will sweat! We don't want you to get dehydrated! Cosplay is not recommended. All the music used at this event will be K-pop/J-pop/J-rock only! So put on some comfy workout clothes and join the fun!
IT'S ALL GEEK TO ME!
Saturday, 11/8, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

A trivia game show (Jeopardy style) in which we will choose 3 lucky contestants and test their knowledge on: ANIME/GAMING/POP CULTURE/DOCTOR WHO, and so much more. The audience will also have the opportunity to participate as well. There will be free treats and prizes!
JoJo's Bizarre Fan Panel
Friday, 11/7, 9:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Calling all JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans! Come learn interesting facts about the series, answer trivia questions about the manga, and participate in discussions with other fellow readers. Small prizes will be given!
K-pop 101
Friday, 11/7, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

In this panel we will explore the history of K-pop and how the Hallyu(Korean) Wave has become what it is today. We will also talk about the different aspects of the K-pop industry such as: fashion, dance, marketing, music shows, music festivals, tours and fan bases. Also we'll explain how social media has embraced K-pop. If you are a new K-pop fan or you're already a fan, this panel is just for you! See you there!
K-pop Past, Present & Future

Discussion/Debate on previous and current K-pop media. There are many people who are huge Girls' Generation and EXO fans, and this is a great opportunity to discuss the reasons why certain members left as well as how dangerous or tight knit companies can be.

Many fans will be allowed to express their feelings like Ladies' Code fans on the tragic accident that recently took the lives of EunB and RiSe, and any other issues fans would like to discuss.
K-pop VS. J-pop
Saturday, 11/8, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Join us at this interactive panel about J-pop and K-pop, and tell us which one is best! Be part of the final decision! J-pop and K-pop have both been around for a while and have really cool elements. Both have had their moments of fame and glory and being in the spotlight. Is J-pop dying? Is K-pop taking over? Which one is better and why? Whose side are you on?

Join Jen-chan from Infotakus and DJ Greg from Tune in Tokyo Club to discuss which genre is your favorite! We will discuss the pros and cons of each genre and decide which one is the winner!

Learn to Sew Cosplay & Create Cosplay Props

Let's Play Live!!

Basically this panel is to perform a live Let's Play. If you are familiar with Youtubers such as Two Best Friends Play or Game Grumps, we will be doing similar things. Playing games while doing live commentary on their mechanics, history, origins, and processes, as well as humorous anecdotes and colorful wisecracks as we play single player and co-op games with the audience. We'll also be recording the footage live to later be streamed on our website.
The Magical Girl's Journey

Nerd Card (Trivia Show)

It's an anime trivia show like we do on our YouTube show, youtube.com/offshootcomics. We will be picking people from the audience to take part and to be contestants.

San Diego Gunpla Club: Gundam Anime and Models 101

Social Dance at Cons
Saturday, 11/8, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

In this panel, he will be talking about how ballroom/social dancing plays a huge role at other cons and cosplay communities. He will also teach about the importance of leading and following in dancing, as well as demonstrate and teach a few other examples of dancing such as waltz, East Coast Swing, and others. Afterwards we can practice our social dancing for fun with various music and try out many different moves.

We're hosting an 18+ video panel where people can relax, reminisce, and have a good laugh while watching the old, dubbed anime Golden Boy. Sort of a blast from the past for many people and a pleasant new surprise for those who have never seen one of the older comedic anime that was actually dubbed and quite popular in the USA during its time.

We'll cover the 6 episodes long series by watching 3 episodes a night, and host a mini panel at the end of each night so both old and new fans can engage one another in discussion.
The Ultimate Naruto Fan Panel
Sunday, 11/9, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Presenters: Antonia Lam, Kevin Nyugen, and Joy Menzel


Cosplaying as Team 7, we will explore all the aspects that would tickle all the nerve endings of a Naruto fan with audience requests, short skits, fandom-related topics such as fan fiction, fan art, fan pairings, and so forth. Also, we will discuss the ending to Naruto and the movie that's coming up in December! There will be prizes, giveaways, games, and much more! This will be a fun and exciting panel that would be enjoyable to any Naruto or anime fan in general.
United States Pump Festival Panel
Friday, 11/7, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Los Angeles A&B (LP2)
Presenters: Kevin Lee-Chuen Tan, Jonas Cesarino, Matt Miller, Archie Fields, Phil Arrington, and Tatiana Spirina


The United States Pump Festival 2014 will be taking place at PMX 2014! This panel will talk about what the United States Pump Festival, the US national competition for the arcade dance game Pump It Up, is all about. We will talk about what kind of video game Pump It Up is as well as various topics such as the history of the game in the USA, the current USA community, and even the international Pump It Up community! Some of the speakers will be previous US representatives who have competed in the international Pump It Up competitions and the World Pump Festivals. If you are interested in learning about how an arcade dance game could bring together people across the country and even across countries, please feel free to join us!
