We are happy to once again welcome Reiyukai America to PMX who will be hosting both a panel and a workshop this year. Their panel, "Decoding Japanese Culture", will take a look at the nuances of the Japanese world and Eastern culture. Their interactive workshop will look at ways to recycle things once thought of as trash into something new and useful.

Decoding Japanese Culture

Saturday and Sunday September 5&6 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in Workshop (PCC Plaza Level Room 207)

As the Western world begins to discover the East, the ideas, images, and culture expressed fill the heart with excitement and wonder. Yet, although there is more interest there is a lack of understanding or stereotypes that can lead some people to be confused.

This year again, Reiyukai America is pleased to host a panel to discuss the nuances of the Japanese world, giving an explanation to the Japanese mindset and values of the people. Join us as we take a look into Japanese samurai culture, Japanese history, and Japanese ideals which outline the basis for the Japanese soul. Further discussion will analyze Japanese family values and beliefs to try to clarify the reasons for images found in Japanese anime and the Japanese media. Come join our discussion!

Learn and Play "Go"

Saturday and Sunday September 5&6 1:00-6:00 p.m. in Workshop (PCC Plaza Level Room 207)

Go is a board game dating back over 2000 years in China. As seen in many anime series, such the popular Hikaru no Go, and dramas. It is a game of strategy and skill where simple placements can affect the game greatly. Come learn how to play with the Yu Go Club and Reiyukai America. All are welcome.

Reiyukai Creative Recycling℠

Saturday and Sunday September 5&6 in Workshop (PCC Plaza Level Room 207)

Back by popular demand, Reiyukai America's activity formerly known as,the Oriental Fusion Handcraft, is back at PMX to introduce you to new exciting ways to recycle things that would once be trash into something new and useful. Now it is called: Reiyukai Creative Recycling℠! This transformation process is not only done to breathe new life into ourselves, but also the people and things we interact with everyday!

In Reiyukai Creative Recycling℠, you will be creating your very own Artistic Container to be used here at PMX as well as in everyday life. All ages are welcome, with any experience level. We will provide hands on guidance and help you each step of the way to get you towards your goal. We also will provide all the materials and tools, so no need to carry your glue stick and scissors around at PMX.

As an activity of the non-profit organization Reiyukai America, we are not looking for profit, however we ask that guests provide a $3 donation per craft to help cover the cost of the materials that will be used during the workshop.

There will be four workshops. Please fill out this form if you wish to sign-up for a workshop.

Session 1: Saturday, Sept. 5, 10:00 - 11:20 a.m. Session 2: Saturday, Sept. 5, 11:30 a.m. - 12:50 p.m. Session 3: Sunday, Sept. 6, 10:00 - 11:20 a.m. Session 4: Sunday, Sept. 6, 11:30 a.m.- 12:50 p.m.
