Darker than Black (Funimation) Ten years ago, a bizarre phenomenon appeared in Tokyo. Three days later, two types of humans with supernatural abilities appeared: emotionless 'dolls' that only do what they're 'programmed' to and wield the ability of surveillance, and powerful 'contractors', feared and hated by the humans that know of their existence. Rationally self-preserving and without the feeling of guilt, it's not long before contractors are used as ideal assassins and weapons of war. Unable to analyze the phenomenon that created these beings safely, it's decided that a huge wall be built around it, called "Hell's Gate." PANDORA, an international research group, protects this wall and analyzes what little they can, while the government struggles to suppress dangerous contractors and the publics' knowledge of them. In all the police force's efforts and doll-assisted surveillance of the city, one contractor continues to evade them. 'BK201', as the police force knows him, stands out as an exceptional killer, while those in the syndicate who know him as 'Hei' see him as a powerful, yet strangely irrational contractor... Emma Ep: 1-4 (Right Stuf) Emma has spent most of her life as a housemaid to an old lady. Now her employer receives a visit from a young man, William Jones, to whom she was once governess. The meeting between William and Emma is the beginning of a romance that crosses all social boundaries. Freedom (Bandai) More than 160 years has passed since the orbital station (Skyport) fell on earth and wiped out all of humanity. The moon colony, Eden, has survived and expanded. In the year 2267, at the age of fifteen, Takeru is taking full advantage of Freedom - the short interlude between the end of compulsory education and the rite of becoming a full citizen. He has taken to hanging out with his friends and running his custom built vehicle in the local races. Angry at a racing loss, he goes for walk outside of the dome and stumbles across some strange items and pictures scattered about in a crater on the surface of the moon. Entranced by a picture of a girl standing under a blue sky, Takeru begins to ask questions that the Eden’s ruling Foundation does not want answered. Gunbuster (Bandai) In the very near future, a race of huge, insect like aliens is discovered traveling the galaxy. These aliens seem dedicated to the eradication of the human species as it takes its first steps away from the solar system, and they are getting closer and closer to Earth. Humanity has responded by developing spacegoing battleships and giant fighting robots (original idea there). These robots are piloted by the best and brightest of Earth's youth, picked from training schools around the world. The story begins in the year 2023, not long after the first battles with the aliens, and centers on young Noriko Takaya. Although Noriko's father was a famous Captain in the space fleet who was killed during one of the first battles of the war, her own talents as a pilot are questionable. Nonetheless, she has entered a training school. Through the series Noriko, joined by the beautiful and talented Kazumi Amano, will fight to overcome the trauma of war, the doubts of her peers, and her own lack of confidence. Cowboy Bebop Remix Vol. 1 (Bandai) One of best series of the 1990s, COWBOY BEBOP follows Spike and Jet, a pair of suave bounty hunters who cruise the galaxy in the spaceship Bebop, so named because of their love for jazz. Soon, the pair has hooked up with Faye Valentine, a sexy bounty hunter who has something of a rivalry with Spike, as well as Ed and Ein, a young tomboy and her dog. Lucky Star Vol. 1 (Bandai) This is a school comedy based on a yonkoma-manga with the same title. The story portrays daily lives of four girls, an otaku girl, Izumi Konata, an intelligent student but often makes stupid mistakes, Takara Miyuki, twin sisters, Hiiragi Kagami and Hiiragki Tsukasa. Silent Mobius Motion Picture (Bandai) Our story begins in 2028. In the near future, a great evil is secretly encroaching on the world of humans - a demonic force known as Lucifer Hawk. Standing in its way is a small, secret group of female police officers: Tokyo's AMP. Gifted with supernatural abilities, they try to defeat the forces of darkness wherever they appear - this time, in a massive new skyscraper under construction. But for one member of AMP, Katsumi Liqueur, this particular battle is personal. As she flashes back to 2024 and her introduction to the world of the supernatural, we discover why. Code Geass Vol.1 (Bandai) The Britannian youth, Lelouch, received a special power from a mysterious girl. GEASS, an absolute power which allows the user to give orders to anyone. Lelouch decided to plan the destruction of the Britannian Empire by using this as a weapon. His goals are to take revenge for his mother, and to create a world in which his little sister, Nunnally, could live in peace. All while knowing that what lies ahead is his father, the Emperor of Britannia. Maria Watches Over Us Ep: 1-4 (Right Stuf) When Yumi Fukuzawa entered the Lillian Girls Academy, a prestigious all-girls Catholic school in Tokyo, she never imagined she would catch the eye of beautiful and demure Sachiko Ogasawara, one of the school's most popular students. Now Sachiko has offered to be Yumi's, her sister and guide for all her years at the academy. The whole idea has Yumi completely flustered: After all, they hardly know each other! The entire campus is abuzz with rumors about the two of them, but Yumi is conflicted over accepting Sachiko’s offer. While she admires Sachiko, being hers would also mean constantly being at the center of the entire school’s attention! Panda Z Vol.1 (Bandai) Panda-Z chronicles the misadventures of Pan Taron and his giant robot Panda-Z, as they battle the evil Skull Panda and his Warunimal forces. A parody of the Mazinger Z series, Panda-Z is a "silent" anime, where there is no actual dialogue; only background music, sound effects and text. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Vol.1 (Bandai) Based on Nagaru Tanigawa's "Suzumiya Haruhi" series of novels and illustrated by Noizi Ito. This is a story of Suzumiya Haruhi, who upon enrollment at school announced, "I have no interest in ordinary humans. If there are any aliens, beings from the future, or super-humans, come see me. That is all!" Naturally, any normal person would think "What the...?" but Haruhi is dead serious. Things get crazy when everyone realizes just how serious she is about it all and establishes the "SOS Dan". My Otome Vol.1 (Bandai) Otome - they are elite ladies; on oneOtome - they are elite ladies; on one hand, they are guards of important persons such as royal families and presidents, and on the other, they are the brains and advisors of politics. To become Otome is the dream of girls all over the world, and Garderobe is the academy that has introduced numerous Otome into high society. The main character, Arika Yumemiya, is a 14-year-old girl. She came to Windbloom Kingdom to look for her mother, who used to be a Meister Otome. When she arrived there, she saw Shizuru. Upon seeing her graceful manner, she made up her mind to become Otome. However, in order to become Otome, she has to graduate with honors from Garderobe. Blassreiter (eigoMANGA) Set in the near future, in a town in Germany. There have been incidents of dead people coming back to life, transforming into "grotesque shadows", and attacking people. Living people show up who can transform themselves into demons whenever they want. They used to be regular humans, but when they gained this power to transform, people rejected them and called them demons. But they still use their powers, each for his own reason. However, they cannot deny their fate: to fight in a deadly battle royal with others who have turned into demons. The Tower of Druaga (eigoMANGA) The Summer of "Anu": In a summer once every five years, demons in the mysterious Tower of Druaga lose their powers due to the magic spell cast by a god named "Anu". King Gilgamesh, ruler of the kingdom Uruk, uses the appearance of demons as an excuse to invade the tower and find out the construct's secrets. As 80 years passed, the Uruk army managed to fight back the demons and built a fortress city and safe haven on the very first floor of Druaga - Metz Kier. Thus begins the story of a warrior named Gil who, finding companions along the way embarks on a quest for the fabled Blue Crystal Rod, a powerful artifact rumored to be in the highest floor of Druaga. However, other competitors, including the kingdom of Uruk itself, want the treasure, all for their own reasons. Strike Witches (eigoMANGA) The year is 1939 - it was then that the Neuroi appeared. Nobody knows where they came from or what their ultimate agenda is, but the fact remains that their attacks drove people out of their towns and cities. In order to take arms against them, humanity develops a new anti-Neuroi weapon called the "Striker Unit." Using the power of magic to fight against the monsters, this new device enhances and amplifies the power of female magic-wielders. To use this device, young witches from all over the world have been brought together to form an elite task force unit called the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, commonly known as the "Strike Witches." Gurren Lagann Vol. 1 (Bandai) In the distant future, people build their homes and raise domestic animals in subterranean caverns. As a result, they live in fear of the occasional earthquake and cave-in, and have been for hundreds of years. Jeeha is one such village. One day, a boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill whilst digging to expand the village. At the same time, Kamina, a guy who believes that there is another land above the village, persuades a gangster to break through the ceiling in order to leave the cavern. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs and the ceiling collapses, followed by a big robot breaking through the ceiling. Kamina is now sure that there is a world above them. Recklessly, he begins to fight against the robot. At that moment, another person appears from the land above. It is a girl by the name of Yoko. With a rifle in hand, she had been tracking the robot. However, all she could do was distract it. Then, Simon shows what he had found to Kamina and Yoko. It's a mysterious robot whose head is also its body. Aria: the Animation Ep: 1-4 (Right Stuf) On the planet Aqua lies the watery city of Neo Venezia, a tourist hub in which people travel around in gondolas. Professional gondoliers known as Undines are well revered as they act as tour guides for the people. Akari Mizunashi is a gondolier in training and also an employee of Aria Company.
