Sell your collectibles at the PMX Collectors' Swap Meet at the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival!

The Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival 2009 is a free yearly event that attracts thousands of people from Monterey Park and the surrounding areas. It's a wonderful way to enjoy Japanese and Japanese American culture, food, and traditions all in one place.

The Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival 2009 will be on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 11 AM to 6:30 PM and Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 11 AM to 6 PM at Barnes Park located on 350 S. McPherrin Ave., Monterey Park, CA.

Q: I want to buy a swap meet table. What do I need to do?
A: Because of the extremely limited number of tables, you must follow the steps below:

  • First, please read the rules here for a more pleasant and compliant vending experience.
  • Swap Meet spaces will go on sale on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8 PM Pacific Time.
  • Each space is equivalent to one half-table (2.5 x 3 feet). Due to the extremely limited number of tables, we can only sell one space per person. That also includes one chair per space. Note: There are only 16 half tables.
  • A half table is $10 per day. Cash only.
  • Specify whether you want Saturday or Sunday - whole days only.
  • In order to get a space, you must first DOWNLOAD THE REGISTRATION FORM, fill it out, and email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8 PM Pacific Time.
  • NEW! Send one email for each day you want to vend. For example, if you want to sell on Saturday only, you send one email with the application form with Sat only. If you want to sell on both Sat and Sun, you send TWO emails each with one pdf attachment.
  • Forms submitted before Tuesday, March 31, 2009 before 8 PM Pacific Time will not be accepted.
  • If you were one of the first 16 people to register, you well get a response from us within the hour.
  • All those who did not get a table spot will placed on a waiting list.

Q: Do I need a temporary sellers permit?
A: It depends. If you are NOT planning to sell at a swap meet more than two times in a 12-month period, you don't need one. If you ARE planning on selling at a swap meet more two times in a 12-month period, you will need one. You may contact the California State Board of Equalization at (800) 400-7115 for additional information.

Q: Will the PMX Collectors' Swap Meet provide special parking spaces for swap meet vendors?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot provide special parking spaces at the Cherry Blossom Festival. However, if you arrive early to set up, the chances of getting good parking is greater.

Q: I'm going to be selling some cosplay replica weapons. Can I sell them?
A: Yes you may but at the discretion of the PMX Swap Meet staff. Replica cosplay weapons must be inspected and peace bonded first. The Monterey Park Police will be inspecting the festival on a regular basis. We want to be nice to the police.

ATTENDEES

Q: How much to get into the PMX Collectors' Swap Meet?
A: It's free. It's part of the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival which is also free.

Q: Is there parking nearby?
A: Yes, there's free street parking. However, the earlier you come the better your parking situation will be.

Q: Can I just take the shuttle to the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival?
A: Yes, there are three free shuttle locations. Shuttles pick up and drop off to and from the festival at approximately every 15 minutes.

Shuttle Locations:

  • El Repetto Elementary School - 650 S. Grandridge Avenue
  • Ynez Elementary School - 120 S. Ynez Avenue (between Garvey & Newmark Avenues)
  • Mark Keppel High School - 501 E. Hellman Ave., Alhambra

RULES FOR VENDORS

You must agree to these rules:

  • Any adult, who is 18 or over, is eligible to obtain selling space at the swap meet and all sellers must sign an agreement to these rules.
  • Swap Meet spaces are one space per person only.
  • NEW! Send one email for each day you want to vend. For example, if you want to sell on Saturday only, you send one email with the application form with Sat only. If you want to sell on both Sat and Sun, you send TWO emails each with one pdf attachment.
  • The sale or trade of weapons or dangerous materials such as fireworks or flammables are prohibited.
  • The sale or trade of unlicensed, bootleg, or counterfeit goods is not allowed (e.g. SM, Everanime, Aliors, Elfin, fansubs). If it's on a burned CD or DVD, it's a bootleg. However, the sale and trade of doujin goods (comics, shitajiki, cards, or stationary) will be allowed.
  • The sale of second-hand art commissions or previously used cosplay items is acceptable. Replica weapons must be inspected by PMX Swap Meet staff and peace bonded.
  • Please note that the Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-oriented event. The display of goods must be suitable for a general audience (i.e., G rated). No adult material are allowed for sale at the PMX Swap Meet. The sale, trade, or showing of adult materials to anyone under 18 is a crime. If you are caught selling or showing adult material to a minor, you will be evicted from the festival and turned over to the police.
  • A fee of $10 will be charged for each vendor's space. Each vendor's space is half a table. Payment is cash only.
  • A maximum of two people may be in a vendor's space.
  • You may not bring your own table to the swap meet.
  • Please respect the community gymnasium. You are advised against bringing your goods in on a hand truck or handcart in order to protect the wooden floor. Be prepared to hand carry your boxes should the situation require it.
  • Cash payment or bartering of items is permitted and is up to the discretion of the participants in the transaction.
  • The PMX Swap Meet staff and/or the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival are not legally responsible for the product's condition or stated condition. All transactions are between the seller and buyer.
  • Sellers have the right to refuse a sale or barter with anyone.
  • All products brought into the swap meet will be inspected, and all items that are in violation of these rules will not be permitted into the swap meet.
  • Any questions regarding the implementation or interpretation of the rules above are subject to the final discretion of the PMX Swap Meet Staff.
  • Any instructions given by the PMX Swap Meet Staff to enforce these rules, the rules of the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival, and the event facility, must be followed immediately.
  • PMX Swap Meet reserves the right to refuse access to anyone.

Glossary of terms regarding the Staff Use section::

  • "Spot:" is where you assigned the vendor.
  • "Fees Paid:" is the amount the vendor paid for his spot.
  • "Time In:" is when the vendor's time starts.
  • "Time Out:" is when the vendor's time ends.
